~ Grandparents’ Day celebrated ~

The students of Primary classes (Class II and III) celebrated Grandparents’ Day on 9th of May 2017. Grandparents of all Classes II and III students were invited for a short programme which sought to convey the love, respect and gratefulness felt by the children for their grandparents.
The show started with a welcome song sung by the children of Class III. The song titled 'I just called to say I love you' is a Stevie wonder classic, which was sung to tell the audience, the feelings imbedded in their hearts.
In her address, the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs. Nellie Ahmed Tanweer welcomed the guests. She also shared incidents of her childhood in Upper Assam where her grandparents had played pivotal roles in making her what she is today.
In her address the principal, Mrs. Alpana K. Phukan talked about the importance of grandparents in children’s lives today. Mr. Naba Kakoti, grandfather of Shreyam Biswamitra, who had come to Guwahati all the way from North Lakhimpur spoke a few words, where he praised the school for hosting such a program for grandparents. Shreyashree Chowdhury of Class II sang a 'Borgeet' and Darnell Das of Class III sang an Assamese song for the esteemed guests. There was also a dance performance by the girls of Class II and III which ended with loud applause.
In between a few lucky grandmothers played the game 'Who is the fastest peeler?' and enjoyed themselves a lot. Two prizes were given to the two fastest peelers.
The show ended with the Headmistress, Primary Section Mrs. Aradhana Borah thanking everyone for being gracious enough to attend and take part in the program. She also hoped that everybody present would attend the next year's 'Grandparents Day' too with the same enthusiasm as this year.
