The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at Maria’s Public School with much gaiety and patriotic fervor. The tricolor was hoisted by the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed following which the National Anthem was sung by all present with great reverence. The Principal of the school Mrs Alpana Khound Phukan spoke a few lines on the celebration of Republic Day and the Managing Trustee addressed the gathering and wished everyone on the occasion. She said that all must realise and understand the relevance of the celebration. Moushmi Sarma of the Department of History spoke on the significance of the occasion. Rendition of a patriotic song by a group of students and a dance performance by the differently abled children further enhanced the patriotic mood. The gathering of students, teachers and staff witnessed a parade led by the Deputy Head Boy and joined by the Girls Guide contingent and representative students of the four houses of the school. The differently abled students also showcased beautiful artwork of the tricolor made with rice, lentil, flowers, sweets and soft drinks to mark the occasion. The students also enjoyed some fun games. The celebration came to an end with the rendition of the school song and the state song.
