A play on poaching of rhinos

The students of classes IX, X and XII of Maria’s Public School performed a play, ‘Rhino’s Call’ in a function to celebrate the winners of the Gor Surakshya Veer Puraskar Awards 2014-15 organised by the Trustees of the Prabhakar Barua Memorial Trust on September 11, 2015 at the auditorium of Sankardeva Kalakhetra, Panjabari, Guwahati. The play directed by Mrs Nandita Barua, a senior teacher of Maria’s was based on rhino poaching. Written by Asmaani Kumar and Arundhati Choudhury the play dealt with inhuman killing of rhinos by poachers which has resulted into a threatening decline in the number of rhino population in the reserves and national parks in Assam and which has become a general concern for all.
