Principal attends TAISI conference

The Principal of Maria’s Public School, Mrs Alpana Khound Phukan and Ms Mausumi Mahanta, HoD, History, and In-charge of Human Resources, Maria’s Public School attended the Leadership Conference, 2015 organised by The Association of International Schools of India (TAISI) at the Taj Land’s End, Mumbai from September 24 to September 26, 2015. The conference which was scheduled with three main sessions, Pre-Conferences, Main Conference and Guidance Counsellor’s Strand with the theme, ‘Making the time, finding the space’ aimed at seeking to resonate with all those little unfulfilled and unexpected areas in our own spheres of academia. The discourses in the workshops and seminars mainly dealt with how to better the school environment so that maximum learning takes place, how to deal with the nuances of the 21st century education vis-à-vis the students who have access to technology at the click of a button, the changing dynamics of a leader – from a mere Head of School to Hands-on-Leadership, how to confront bullying behaviour in the new age with an action research programme, how infrastructure in a school can be revolutionised keeping in mind the interest of the students, in an effort to move away from the factory, mass production model of education. The challenge for schools today is to provide students a coherent learning experience as they move through primary, middle and secondary education and linking the curriculum to college-level learning; in other words preparing them for higher education in leading global universities.
TAISI was started with seven schools to bring international schools in India together for the advancement of international education, intellectual understanding and friendship and to provide educators with best intellectual resource platform. It has now grown exponentially to a strength of 70 schools and a vision that is more progressive than ever.
Maria’s Public School is privileged to be under the aegis of TAISI for which we are wholeheartedly grateful to the Founder and Managing Trustee, Mrs Nellie Ahmed Tanweer.
