Trijal Sharma of Class 9 has been honoured with the prestigious King Constantine Medal for his exemplary contributions towards community service and social impact. The award was presented during a special school assembly on January 27, 2025, recognizing Trijal’s remarkable efforts in bridging the digital divide through his innovative educational initiative.
The King Constantine Medal is named after King Constantine II of Greece, the Patron of Round Square, who deeply believed in the potential of young people to drive positive change. This medal is awarded to those who embody the Round Square IDEALS.
Trijal’s project involved creating an affordable computer using the Raspberry Pi 4 to provide underprivileged students with access to computer science and IT education. The initiative was inspired by his visit to a rural school where he met a young boy aspiring to be a software developer but had never used a computer. Driven to make a difference, Trijal worked tirelessly to design and implement this cost-effective solution, ensuring that students from marginalized communities could explore new opportunities in technology and learning.
Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), Trijal’s efforts have empowered many young learners to break barriers and transform their futures. His project not only demonstrated his technical ingenuity but also reflected his dedication to the Round Square IDEALS of Service, Leadership, and Internationalism.
Trijal’s achievement stands as a testament to the values upheld by Maria’s Public School and inspires his peers to take active roles in fostering social change.
