The 2nd Edition of the Challengers Trophy Under-19 Football Tournament, organized by Maria’s Public School was held with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on November 8, 2025. The tournament brought together 12 leading schools across Guwahati, each showcasing their talent, teamwork and passion for football.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed, Mr. Sanjeeva Rongpi the Chief Guest and renowned footballer, along with Principal Mausumi Mahanta and Vice Principal Anjan Gogoi, who encouraged the young athletes to play with integrity and team spirit. The event kicked off with an oath-taking ceremony and a group song and dance in memory of Zubeen Garg.
Throughout the tournament, the matches were intensely competitive, reflecting the high standard of play among the participating schools. Each team demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline and determination on the field. The semifinals and finals were particularly thrilling, drawing large crowds of students, teachers and parents who cheered passionately for their teams.
After a series of exciting matches Maria’s Public School emerged as the Champion of the 2nd Challengers Trophy, while South Point School secured the Runner-up position and Don Bosco School, Guwahati got the 3rd place. Individual awards were also presented. Aman Amin of Maria’s Public School received the award for Best Player of the Tournament and Sreyansh Yadav of Maria’s Public School received the Best Goalkeeper Award, acknowledging their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
The event concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony, which was graced by Mrs. Afrida Hussain a renowned Investigative Journalist, who appreciated the efforts of all participants, coaches and referees and urged the student community to be good human beings.
