Maria’s Public School celebrated the 75th Independence Day in a solemn manner in presence of the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed, Principal Mrs Mausumi Mahanta, Vice Principal Mr Anjan Gogoi and a host of teaching and non-teaching staff. Compered by Sushmita Chakraborty the programme started with the hoisting of the Tricolor by the Managing Trustee following which the resounding words of the National Anthem reverberated in the air.  Thereafter, a special prayer was conducted by the Principal. The Managing Trustee delivered a speech commemorating the freedom fighters and martyrs of northeast India and urging everyone to stay United as a nation. The Principal reiterated the sacrifice and contribution of the martyrs of Assam to attain freedom from the British rule in her speech. Mrs Nandita Barua, HoD, History urged all to feel the true spirit of freedom in her speech. The programme came to an end with the rendition of the State Song.
