Afsheen Afsha achieves first position in VI to VIII category in national chess meet, adjudged third among top three players in the tournament

Afsheen Afsha Zaman of grade VI, Maria’s Public School achieved the first position in category VI to VIII in the 2nd Unison World School, Dehradun Chess Championship National held on 27th Aug 2021. She also achieved  the third position in the overall tournament as Top 3 players in India.

The event was an All-India Interschool Online Chess Tournament organized by Unison World School, for the second consecutive year from 27th August to 28th August 2021. The purpose was to provide a platform to young enthusiastic minds to enhance their analytical powers, concentration, ability to foresee possibilities, critical thinking and use their time constructively during the pandemic time. The competition was open for children of all age groups.

163 students of 35 schools from 12 states of India and Global Indian International School, Dubai participated in the event. They all displayed great zeal and passion for the game.
