The 2023 batch of AISSCE of Maria’s Public School was bade farewell with a befitting programme arranged by the Management and Class 11 students. Christened as “Avenoir 23 – the desire to see memories in advance,” the programme had a buoyant tone all throughout. With two pairs of hosts – formal and informal, it had a rhythmic flow right from the beginning till the end. After the formal hosts – Aditi Kalita and Abdullah Ahmed Chaudhary raised the curtain, the ceremonial cake was cut by the Principal, Mausumi Mahanta, outgoing Head Girl and Head Boy of the school cabinet Mahita Saikia and Vedarshi Sarmah. The Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed, who unfortunately couldn’t be present in the event owing to an urgency elsewhere, said in her message to the batch, “You need to fulfill all your aspirations. You have to soar new heights. You have to stand tall in crowds, be confident, resilient and always follow the path of righteousness.” The Principal in her speech urged the outgoing batch to take informed decisions. She also said, “Life is going to be what you make of it, but we all must find a purpose to keep us going. You have to find your ikigai.” The gathering was also addressed by Vice Principal Mr Anjan Gogoi, Academic Director Mrs Shahnaaz Rahman and Marian alumnus Mr Jaan Sharma Pathak, the Special Guest of the occasion. Following this the Class 11 students presented a spectacular show of magic, song and dance anchored by the informal hosts Bikramjeet Kashyap and Geetastuti. This came to an end with a nostalgic flashback of the outgoing students’ time in school through an animation film created by Aditya Bhattacharya, a Class 11 student. The spell of nostalgia continued with the Head Girl’s swansong – her final speech as the head of the students’ body. Her moving speech filled with anecdotes made everyone relive the moments of yesteryears. The stage changed into its charismatic best with the ramp walk of the entire batch in their ‘New York Socialite’ get-up, a symbolic step into adulthood. This was followed by one of the most awaited moments, presentation of sashes with the crowd cheering for the ones who were adjudged best in various categories. The exuberance reached its crescendo with the DJ making all gyrate to his composition. The curtains came down on Avenoir 23 with the Principal’s words of appreciation to the Class 11 students for organising such a memorable show.
