The celebrations for the 76th Independence Day started on the 12th of August at Maria’s Public School with students doing various activities class wise, as part of the Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav.

Painting and drawing of the National Flag and the Independence Day, Poster making,  Slogan writing on the theme “76th  Independence Day” and “India of my Dreams”, Flag formation by Primary Students dressed in the colours of the Tiranga, a special dance celebrating freedom from the colonial Raj were organised on August 12. The children with special needs dressing up like the freedom fighters, holding up the Tiranga proudly, created a lot of excitement and patriotic fervor. It was a fitting tribute to the brave hearts of this nation who gave their all for the country’s freedom from colonial rule.

 

Today, on the 15th of August 2022, the National Flag was hoisted by the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed in presence of Principal Mausumi Mahanta, Vice Principal Mr Anjan Gogoi, Academic Director Mrs Shahnaaz Rahman, students, parents, teachers, staff and sub-staff at 08:30 AM. The Managing Trustee urged everyone to contribute to the build of a stronger nation and to be alert and protect the country from all malicious forces. The patriotic fervour escalated in the solemn celebration with the rendition of a patriotic song by Ms Saparja Dhar, a student of Class 11 following the singing of the National Anthem by all. A group of Class 6 students also performed two dance numbers – the first being in sign language as a gesture of respect towards inclusive education. The Cultural Secretary of the school cabinet, Ms Jannat Naz Sadique Rahman along with Anusna Hazarika of Class 11 recited a  poem with a thought provoking theme. Thereafter, a group of senior students along with the Head Boy and Head Girl and the Scouts and Guides students put up a march past in honour of the Tricolor and the historic occasion. While the vote of thanks was offered by Dr Bishen Roy, HOD, Dept. of Sports, the programme was competed by Ms Urshita Bhuyan, a teacher in the Dept. of Social Sciences.
