A five-member team from Maria’s Public School, led by Founder & Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed, attended the AFS India 7th National Meet held from November 20–23, 2025 at Manik Public School, Bidar, Karnataka. The event brought together 70 schools and 300 students for four days of intercultural learning themed “Bridging Cultures – Building Futures.”
As Head of the AFS East Zone, Mrs Nellie Ahmed presented a consolidated report on the activities and learning outcomes of the activities of the AFS Member Schools of the Eastern Region, emphasizing on the strong need of pivoting the synergy and collaboration between the schools of these regions, on traditional values and cultural roots. Sharing the best practices of Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, Assam, some of which have been recognised by AFS, for their innovative approaches and execution, Mrs. Ahmed also welcomed the Indian AFS Schools to future programmes and collaborative ventures that will be planned, executed and documented in Assam and at the Maria’s Braveheart Camp, Rajasthan.
Marian Design students Salam Nandini, Mahasree Purkayastha and Mihika Dutta won the First Prize for their poster and project on “Youth Empowerment for Rural Futures,” mentored and conceptualized by Dr. Biswajit De, Creative Director and Teacher of Design and Mrs Sushmita Chakraborty, Science Faculty.
The meet featured cultural programmes, leadership sessions, service activities and experiential learning tours, including visits to Manik Prabhu Temple, Bidar Fort and a Gurudwara.
The session concluded with reflection sessions, the “Abharanjali” ceremony, and certificate distribution. Maria’s Public School has emerged as an important and enterprising AFS Member School, contributing some of the most significant Action Plans and best practices, in sync with the ethos of AFS.
