Maria’s Public School organised a three-day Capacity Building Programme for the teaching fraternity in collaboration with SCERT, Guwahati, Assam, from December 20 to 23, 2025, at the school premises. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Mausumi Mahanta, who addressed the gathering with a few insightful and motivating words, emphasising the importance of continuous professional development for educators.
On the first day, deliberations and workshops were conducted on the National Curriculum Framework, with a focus on the Foundational Stage. The sessions covered Early Childhood Care and Education, Toy-Based Pedagogy (Jadui Pitara), Foundational Literacy, Foundational Numeracy, and Life Skills Education. These sessions were conducted by Dr. Raj Kiran Doley, Senior Lecturer, DIET, Biswanath; Dr. Syeda Nasifa Islam, Senior Lecturer, DIET, Chiang; Dr. Himalinee Bezbaruah, Senior Lecturer, DIET, Udalguri; and Mr. Mridul Das, Assistant Director, SCERT, Assam.
On December 22, workshops and deliberations were held on Experiential Learning, Inclusive Education, Leading Transformation, Art-Integrated Pedagogy, and Sports-Integrated Pedagogy. The resource persons for the day included Mr. Bodosa Basumatary, Assistant Director, SCERT, Assam; Mr. Dikumani Hazarika, Lecturer, SCERT, Assam; Ms. Pooja Das, PCSW, SCERT; Smti. Hemsikha Talukdar, Assistant Director, SCERT, Assam; Mr. Harekrishna Talukdar, Senior Lecturer attached to SCERT, Assam; Mr. Prantik Phukan, Assistant Director, SCERT, Assam; Ms. Sanam Khan, Lecturer, DIET, Nagaon; and Mr. Rajkumar Bharali, Lecturer, SCERT, Assam.
On the concluding day, sessions were conducted on Competency-Based Assessment and Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices, School Health and Wellness with a focus on promoting mental health and wellbeing, ICT Integration in Education with special emphasis on cyber safety and security, and the role of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. These sessions were led by Sri L. K. Das, Retired Joint Director, SCERT, Assam; Dr. Krishna Devi Bonia, Lecturer, IASE, Guwahati; Mr. Raju Barua, Senior Lecturer, DIET, Karbi Anglong; and Mr. Kangkan Kishore Dutta, Assistant Director, SCERT, Assam.
The programme concluded with valedictory remarks by the Principal, Mrs. Mausumi Mahanta, and the Vice Principal, Mr. Anjan Gogoi, who expressed their appreciation to the resource persons and participants for making the programme a meaningful and enriching experience.
