The Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected School Cabinet for the session 2026–27 was conducted with great solemnity on May 11, 2026. The programme commenced with a special prayer led by Principal Mausumi Mahanta.
In her Welcome Address, Mrs Nellie Ahmed, Founder and Managing Trustee, reflected upon the remarkable 38-year journey of the school — “a journey that began with a simple vision and has blossomed into a legacy.” Addressing the newly elected student leaders, she urged them to “lead with empathy, act with integrity” and “never be afraid to serve others before themselves.”
The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Assam, applauded the school’s growth and evolution into “one of the best schools in and around Guwahati.” He expressed confidence that in the years ahead, the institution would emerge as one of the finest in the country. Emphasising the essence of true leadership, he spoke on the importance of discipline, punctuality, good character and integrity.
Mrs Maini Mahanta, noted journalist, columnist and author, who attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour, encouraged the cabinet members to understand the significance of the badges pinned to their uniforms and to reflect upon the qualities the world seeks in its leaders today.
The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Trust members Dr Ranjit Choudhury, former Head of the Department of English, Cotton University, Ms Ditty Ahmed, Executive Head of Maria Montessori House of Children, along with invited guests, faculty members and students of the senior classes.
The oath of office was administered by Mrs Nandita Barua, HOD, History, during which the cabinet members solemnly pledged to discharge their duties with sincerity and commitment.
Adding to the dignified atmosphere of the occasion, the school choir presented a couple of inspirational songs that uplifted the spirit of the gathering. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Vice Principal Mr Anjan Gogoi, while the programme was seamlessly anchored by Dr Sarah Hussain and Mrs Monisha Sharma of the Department of History.
From the words of the Head Boy and Head Girl:
“To be chosen for this role is to be handed a torch — and we intend to carry it with steady hands and purposeful hearts. We promise to lead with fairness and compassion.
We promise to uphold the values of this institution — truth, determination and perseverance — not just in words, but in everything we do. This school has taught us to work hard, dream big and never back down
And today’s ceremony symbolises the continuation of a legacy — a legacy of integrity and dedication that has been built by generation of students before us….
To our teachers, thank you for your unwavering guidance and encouragement. Your belief in us has shaped us in more ways than you may imagine.
To our fellow cabinet members, the responsibility bestowed upon us demands our utmost diligence – let us unite in purpose and fulfill our responsibilities with unwavering integrity and exemplary resolve….”
