Sustainable Fashion Design Workshop for mothers in Summer Carnival 2026
As a part of the Summer Camp, 2026 organised by the Primary Section, a two-day ‘Sustainable Fashion Design’ workshop was conducted by the Students of Design (Classes 11 & 12), under the mentorship of Dr. Biswajit De, the Creative Director and Teacher of Design.
The mothers designed dresses out of biodegradable materials – reusable paper, cardboard, cloth and walked the ramp showcasing the wonderful dresses that they designed on the final day.
The students of the Department of Design were the mentors who planned, executed and coordinated the entire creative workshop. The department is thankful to Sanjukta Kashyap, Kristisikha Talukdar, Salam Nandini, Smita Gogoi, Shatakshi Das, Nyneishia Dutta, Yashmita Das and Farnaz A. Rahman.
To groom the students for Leadership Skills, three students were selected to be the judges for the event, supported by Mrs. Puja Sarma, a parent and an established interior designer herself.
MPS is the only school in the entire North East India which has a small, but fully functional Design Department, initiated by Mrs Nellie Ahmed, the visionary Founder Director, MPS, where students are trained and groomed to crack Design Entrance Examinations of NID, NIFT, UCEED, IITs and other creative institutions, right from an early age.
