20th MAH Literary Fest and the celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gyanmalini Kobi Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika

20th Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika Literary Fest and the celebration of the 150th Birth
Anniversary of the Gyanmalini Kobi

Maria’s Public School has been organising Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika Literary Fest since the year 2001 to commemorate the Gyanmalini Kobi who was born in the family of Bagh Hazarika on August 30 in the year 1870, and his extraordinary contribution to Assamese literature. The literary fest is aimed at putting an edge on the creative acumen of the children and to enhance their soft and language skills. It is organised in English and Assamese languages.

The year 2020 has proved to be a challenging time for all. But certain things cannot stop. So, as in the previous years, this year too, the school organised the annual Literary Fest on a virtual platform, as we believe that nothing should deter creativity and our endeavor to hone talent in our students.
Starting with the birth centenary year of the Gyanmalini Kobi, Maria’s Educational Trust has decided to confer the Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika Kavya Award on eminent poets for their outstanding literary work every year. Poet Dr Nilima Thakuria Hoque is the first recipient of the Kavya Award for her immense literary contribution towards Assamese poetry.
The literary fest included inter school competitions on Assamese Creative writing on 17th of August, 2020, Assamese Recitation on 18th of August, 2020, English Elocution on19th of August, English Creative Writing on 20th of August, 2020, Interschool Debate – War of Words – on 24th of August, 2020. An online workshop on creative writing was also held on August 21st and 22nd conducted by Reshma Shah, with an experience of about twenty years in the field of education, designing Workshops with the theme Creativity @Work to inculcate joy in teaching and learning. Students from the participating schools also took part in the workshop.
