25th Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika (MAH) Literary Festival: 25 Years of Four Languages on One Canvas
What began in 2001 as a tribute to Assam’s first Sufi poet, Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika (1870–1958) of the Jonaki era, has now grown into a vibrant confluence of languages, creativity, and cultural expression. The MAH Literary Festival has, over the years, become more than just an event—it is a melting pot of ideas, voices and heritage that celebrates literary brilliance while keeping roots alive.
The 25th edition of the MAH Literary Festival brought together an overwhelming 450 participants to the campus of Maria’s Public School on 22nd and 23rd August, 2025. The two-day fest brimmed with competitions across four languages, including:
Assamese Recitation, Poem Depiction through Art, Creative Writing (Prose), On-the-Spot Poetry, Sanskrit Inter-School Recitation, Hindi Inter-School Recitation, English Creative Writing (Prose), English Recitation, haiku Writing, On-the-Spot Poetry, Debate, and Street Play.
The Award Ceremony will take place on August 30, 2025, while the prestigious Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika Memorial Kavya Award—instituted in 2020 to mark the Gyan Malini Poet’s 150th Birth Anniversary—will be conferred on August 29, 2025 at the Guwahati Press Club.
