The eighth edition of the Inter Maria’s Model United Nations commenced from November 15 to 17, 2024 at Maria’s Public School.
The opening ceremony was graced by Mr Santanu Borthakur as the Chief Guest and Marian alumni Mr Akashneel Sharma as the Guest of honour, Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed, Principal Mausumi Mahanta, Vice Principal Mr Anjan Gogoi, Mrs Madhabi Goswami, Head Mistress, Sr. Secondary Section, Mrs Yasmin Hussain, Head Mistress, Primary Section and teachers from the middle school, high school and senior secondary sections.
The in-house media house of MPS, Jonaki, a student driven initiative, was also launched on the same platform.
The official flag of the UNFCC YOUNGO was also handed over to the Founder and Managing Trustee Mrs Nellie Ahmed by Dr Biswajit De, Creative Director, who recently visited Pittsburgh to attend the UN IUCN Building Bridges Conference, as a plenary speaker.
The closing ceremony took place on November 17 with good cheer and exuberance after heated debates on world issues in the committee deliberations in the first and second days of the MMUN. Representatives of associate sponsors Pratarka Education and Socio Cultural partner Srishti Socio Cultural Organisation were also present at the closing ceremony among the other dignitaries.
The best institution award was won by Delhi Public School, Guwahati and the Best Delegation award was achieved by Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, Guwahati.
